"THE INHABITANTS OF THE NIGHT"
Wildlife is a fundamental part of every natural ecosystem. However, nocturnal wildlife often goes unnoticed and remains unknown even to the people who share the same environment with it.
At night, La Garrotxa hides more life than we imagine: nocturnal birds of prey, bats, genets, amphibians… Nocturnal mammals and birds of prey play a key role in our natural ecosystems, as they help regulate prey populations and maintain ecological balance. They are also excellent indicators of the environmental health of the ecosystem.
Despite their importance, some of these species are threatened. Through photography, this project aims to raise awareness of La Garrotxa’s nocturnal wildlife and to help the public understand its importance, thereby promoting its conservation.
In addition, through stories, legends, sayings and songs, among other forms of popular tradition, we seek to explain the cultural connection that some of these species have with the people of La Garrotxa.
